Didnt care for the Chili but cauliflower, cheeseburger and fish sandwich are excellent
Middle of nowhere treasure! Good food and service!
great food and service always a good time
Lunch was delicious, we had great service, had a great time.
Great food and drink. Service can be an issue, small kitchen. Depends in timing. We
Don't "update"! Don't change anything. Humongous ham sandwich. Good burgers. Goulash! Top up for cheap.
Just had to have the ham sandwich. I work at Shelton's and slice 160 pounds of it a week and understand why they want it sliced as they do.
Trying to come back
Great food and service
The best Ham and cheese
A REGULAR hangout for the wife and I, and many of our friends and family. The OLDEST business in the state of Michigan still operating on the original foundation. We live less than 30min away from OTI (Old Tavern Inn), being a historian myself I relish the interior of this little restaurant/bar.The crowd is great, the staff is excellent, my wife knows the owner personally from school. You definitely CANNOT complain about the food, be it the signature ham & cheese sandwich, the burgers or even the amazing fish & fries, served with in-house slaw & Texas Toast...glad we're going there tonite. Lol.
One of my favorite quiet bars to relax at every once in a while. Good food, friendly staff and usually a more relaxed atmosphere
Historic place to Visit and Eat. The food has a Comfort Vibe very hearty and filling! Service was excellent. We Ordered The Full Hot Ham $9.50 and Full Goulash $8 the portions looked Amazing coming out and it was delicious!! We will Definitely be back for more. If your hungry come eat here leave full and pleased.
Need carry out. And not just intermittently.
Exceptional hot ham and cheese sandwich.1/2 sandwich is plenty! The "Goulash" is NOT Hungarian style. It is tomatoe soup with hamburger and pasta noodles. Reuben sandwich was quite tasty.
I can only rate this on one visit. Unfortunately it was on a Saturday afternoon with a lot of snow on the ground and even more snowmobilers. The place was packed, and they had what looked like, only 2 people working. Well, to say we waited a long time for our food and drinks would be a compliment. It was good quality so that is why I'm giving 4* and not 2-3. The trail goes right by there. With that much snow, they should expect to be busy.
The fried chicken dinner was super tasty!!!
Great little restaurant/ pub. Historic. Was a stage coach stop back in the day. Good food and reasonable prices. Not a huge menu, but exaxtly what you would expect from Pub Food. Pleasant wait staff. Clean. We love to run out there when we are in the area. It is always busy, but service is not slow.
Friendly service, great food and cold beer at a good value. Great local pub.
Been coming to this place sence I was nee high to a grasshopper. Good food hamburger's, hot ham sandwich. Don't be in a rush here. Well worth the wait.
Too busy. Short-handed. Had to leave.
This is a must visit when your in the area. I visit from out of state twice a year. My group drives way out of their way to get here. Drank my first birthday beer here when I turned 18, years and years ago. Most of my friends who I meet here go for the very large ham sandwich, while I lean on getting a custom made burger the way I want it. This is a little slice of history and you kinda step back in time when you get there. The staff has always been very helpful. I have never in 40 years been disappointed !
They have really good food and good drink prices.
They have the best ham and cheese sandwich and there shrimp Dinner and chicken strips and Burgers are The Best Around Town. Great staff and the owners are so nice.
Food wasn't that great. Service was not so good nice seating and priced fairly but I won't go back any time soon.
Good food and good service. Great ham sandwich and poppers.
We stopped today for a chilly one and munchies and had a ball!! Quaint place being the oldest business in Michigan!! Definitely will be back!
Excellent Food. Cozy bar and restaurant. Staff excellent. Friendly and helpful.
Great food. Must try the ham sandwich best ham ever and its huge and very reasonably priced. Great freindly atmosphere. Excellant service. Come as u are no problem.
First time checking the place out. I had the had and cheese sandwich, which is HUGE! Great food, friendly service, and a laid back atmosphere. Looking forward to next time!
Gotta try the hot ham and cheese...Delicious !
First day of opening, the service and the food were AWESOME!!! Definitely coming back
So out of the way I don’t know how we ever found this place. I was surprised to see sign announcing it as the oldest business in Michigan. It was warm and comfortable inside and our server was very welcoming and friendly. I had a burger and fries and everything was hot and tasty.
We got the olive burger - which was fantastically yummy and the BLT, equally tasty, but I preferred the burger. Would be nice if burgers come with fries, but it's extra if you want any side item. Service was friendly. Clean. Decor reminds me of the old Gull Road Tavern (GRT) in Kalamazoo. Looks like your average neighborhood hangout bar that the locals go to. We'd recommend it and would go back.
It is a tavern/bar atmosphere but clean and service is very good. We have been there numerous times over the years and food is very good to excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend to someone who is looking for a very laid back restaurant.
Always great service . Food is good and prepared per your request.
Comfortable setting, reasonably priced hard cider- I'm going to ask for one of the sandwiches next time. They looked really good!
Excellent shaved ham sandwiches from the oldest business in Michigan
Was there with my sister and brother-in-law. Great food all around. Great people !!!😎😀😁
Historic restaurant -- an old stage coach stop. Has outstanding hamburgers and a friendly, helpful staff.
The ham and cheese sandwich is still great the service is good and the building is still haunted
Oldest tavern in Michigan. Awesome staff and great food!
Burgers were good. Very busy. Slightly understaffed for the volume of customers. Staff was very friendly
Great casual food.
It may be a hole in the wall but they do everything right. All the food is homemade to order and fast. Great burgers but the ham sandwiches steal the show. This is also the oldest running business in Michigan, history!
As great as I hoped it would be! A buddy of mine was complaining about a ham and cheese sandwich he had a a bar just north of Paw Paw. I googled " best ham sandwich in Michigan" and stumbled upon the old tavern inn. My buddy couldn't make it for today's trip but his loss.... sandwich was all that others had promised. The gal working the entire bar was awesome as well. (Didn't catch her name but she was wearing a Browning humting shirt and has a boyfriend name Nick that doesn't like to fly LOL) Even though it's an hour away...I will be back 😀
Good food 👍 good service, been going there for years and will go back.
Typical old tavern. Service was good. Great ham sammich.
